Fox Host Refuses to Discuss Russian Invasion of Georgia

Monday, August 11, 2008

In reference to my previous post on the Russian invasion of Georgia a few days ago, Peter wrote a funny (though sadly accurate) comment:

"We should be used to this...the bush administration has been 'keeping the peace' in Iraq since 2003."
Joking aside, we apparently are used to this. Or at least, this Fox News host is; despite the interviewee insisting he talk about substantive issues like the conflict, he seems far more interested in the recent John Edwards affair scandal:

Fox News host avoids Russia-Georgia topic

I don't really watch TV these days. Is this battle being covered at all by the national news? I don't get the impression that it is.

I don't know, man - it seems like the reaction to this 3+ minute interview is a bit overblown.

Now I am no fan of Fox News and I commend Bonnie Erbe for trying to raise the discussion to a more important issue, but it seemed like they were there to discuss Edwards. And that is why Gregg Jarrett kept bringing the conversation back to Edwards.

Maybe Fox is purposely trying to play up the Edwards story, at the expense of airtime for the Georgian conflict, but I would not take this short video as damning evidence for such a theory.

Consider this video from another perspective: some may take this same video as evidence of some kind of plot to use the Georgian conflict to overshadow Edwards' scandal.

Either way, it was a hilarious exchange. Thanks for sharing!
